Hometown ColorTyme Stores Offer Pay Day Loans

(Not available in all stores)

Credit card companies are tightening their belts, more of us are living paycheck to paycheck than ever before, and options are growing fewer for the temporarily cash-strapped. For these very reasons, some ColorTyme stores offer convenient and practical short-term cash advance loans to help customers with unexpected emergency expenses such as doctor bills, car repairs, or any other imaginable scenario.

How does it work?

Once you're approved, all you have to do is write us a check for the amount of money you'd like to borrow plus a fee that we'll go over with you before completing the transaction. In exchange, we'll give you a cash advance. But we won't cash your check right away - we'll hold on to it for a certain amount of time, giving you the chance to return the cash you were loaned. If you're not able to, we'll simply deposit your check. It's that easy.

How we compare

Most ColorTyme cash advance loans charge a simple $15 fee for every $100 borrowed. But if you compare that with the alternative of bouncing a check, maxing out your credit card, or having to skip a utility payment to care for an emergency purchase, the cost savings become even more obvious.

  • $54: Average NSF (bounced check) fee.

  • $37: Average credit card late fee (recent legislation is lowering this to a maximum of $25.)

  • $46: Average utility bill late/reconnect fees.

How do I apply?

Visit a participating ColorTyme location and complete the application in person. We will process your application personally, and give you a decision within minutes.

What do I need?

Before we can process your request, you'll be asked to provide the following information:

  • A valid state issued ID or driver's license. This is used solely for purposes of identification.

  • Your most recent pay stub. This is used to verify your income.

  • Your checkbook and checking account statement. The checking account must be in your name, and the checking account statement should be your most current copy.

  • Your utility bill. We use this as a simple means of verifying your physical address. This should also be your most recent bill.
